Actually the LTD LX already has a following, but they are still consider one of the fastest police cars ever built. Just a little over 3000 ever made (in 1984 and 1985). Uprated 5.0 mustang engine in a really light 4 door sedan. I wish mine had the v-8 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif, and the LX badge. Drives really nice though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Festiva's can be easily converted to Mazda Turbo 4 power. ...A 12-13 second Festiva? Easy.

From a collector standpoint, the Porsche 912 is an insane money maker. I've owner several in the last few years, and the money I've made off them has funded many other of my cars. They were once considered the 911's ugly little brother, but the supply of nice, unbastardized cars has dwindled. Last fall we set the world record on 912 price at auction....26,500 for a '67 912. This car would have sold for 10,000 3 years ago. Every part is available (parts aren't expensive as most think for pre-'73 911's/912's), the cars are amazingly well built, and they're so fun to drive.

Buy a nice 912, it's a solid investment.

I know that, I work with a kid that has a '94 Capri Turbo
engine in his, runs a low 12 with 18lbs of boost, and it's
a little on the scary side to drive...

5.0 HO,posi,& the all-important 20 gallon gas tank!
Cool car - should have kept it.Sold it for $800.

Those cars were sweet when they came out. Unfortunately you just don't see them around anymore. I look o n Ebay just out of curiousity now and again. The Daytona's were interesting, expecially the later years (late 80's). A friend had one and it was a pretty nice car.

Another one might be the american version of the Mercury Capri in the mid-late 80's, called the 2.4RS or something, a turbo 4. Or the Merkur XR4ti. I agree with all the other choices as well. 944 turbo's and now even 968's can be had for bargain prices. I'd like to keep my eye out for a Maserati Merak, Bora, Khamsin or even Mistral as they seem to change hands for less than they deserve.
