I have body off frame & rebuilding suspension etc. Question is u joints feel fine to me, but is that a good test or should they all be replaced.
Thanks Jeff

Hi Jeff,

No real test I know of other than feel for smooth movement or loosness. A visual examination would include looking for torn, dried seals & rust. If in doubt , nows the time to replace them. Try to get Spicer 5-4x or I just noticed that Richard Good has a HD Neapco replaement, # 070 at $22.00 each.

I don't know if this is an "approved" testing methode, but I used a prybar between the yoke and the spider and tried to look for movement. I had movement in both axle joints, so I replaced them. No movement now.

[/ QUOTE ]That's exactly what I was told to do many years ago, by a very experienced and respected BLMC dealer Part Department manager, so I say it IS "approved"! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
