U-joint

I took both, Emma AND Binabox.

"...resident, heel-wearing, manicured hottie..."
BWAHAHAHAHAHA! If you could have seen me an hour ago, I looked more like a drowned rat.

Feel slightly better since I've had a nice shower and some food for the first time since 6pm last evening.

LONG car show weekend! Barry, sorry you didn't make it down. Weather held out, for a bit, had all cars on the field. Then in the most English sense, it rained. And rained. 125 cars on the field, I forget how many classes.

Emma was needing a little extra attention on the drive home. Powered down on me at 60mph in the middle of 5 lanes on the interstate. Coasted to the shoulder, sat 10 minutes. Had a comforting talk with her, she started back up (backfiring a LOT through the carbs) and we made it home.

So, a checkup for Emma and a U-joint transplant for Binabox this week.

Gotta love these cars.

5 of our bc club braved the show, I saw them off at 7am and kept an eye on the radar, I think if the forecast wouldn't have been rainy, a lot more than 125 would have turned up.
I did hear from those that went and said it was a great show, compliments to you and your club. Catch it next year.
Good luck with the girls.

Ahh, Barry, I wish I'd known some of your club showed up. Glad to hear everyone made it back home safely. Waiting to hear from the Memphis bunch too.

Fixed. Wasn't a big issue at all. Chuck borrowed a tool from O'Reilly's, had the U-joint swapped and the tool returned by noon.

You let him finish working on the car by noon? You're a kind woman! Surely there must be something you can make him improve upon! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'm a compassionate soul.

Hey, who am I to stop him when he headed out to the garage this morning?

Of course I need you guys. Whatever would I do without you? We're looking at a '73 MGB this week...Chuck found it in the paper, thinks he can get it for a couple thousand. That's all I know about it. Where this idea came from I don't know. I'm leaning toward a GT or a V8 conversion. OOOH, a V8 conversion in this '73...

Hmmm...

Next they are going to need a pole barn as a storage and assembly area.

YES! Jack, you're exactly right. And about 2 acres. Or we need to convert our house to garage and our garage to a cozy studio apartment.

I have no interest in this car he's looking at. Really think I want a GT. I used to not like them at all. But I'm thinking would be a nice car to haul my mom around in, maybe do an engine swap in it, AC. Sell the Solara. Oooh, or an 1100? That would be a great rally car.

JB,

You need to see a doctor. You have a very serious disease. There is no know cure for it. You just need to see the doctor (dot) to tell her you are buying her a B.

If you're going to convert one to V8 - look for a post-Sep '76.

A post '76 GT? Why, won't I have to swap out the rear end anyway?

After that the bodies were all basically made to accomodate the V-8. Not nearly as much bother to make the conversion.

So I wouldn't have to swap out the MG rear end on a '76 or later...

Janel...the body modifications were *primarily* done to the engine compartment in order to accomodate the Rover 3.5 (Buick 215) block. It would still have a 3.9 differential (same as Binabox and Emma) that many of the conversions out there still run...there is just better gearing available, depending upon what transmission you're planning on using and how you plan on using the car. (I have a BW T-5 with a 0.63 final drive and a Ford 8" differential with an Auburn 3.25 posi in the GT).

Janel - if you're going to convert an MGB, the post sep '76 cars are set up for it....but there's a lot of homework you need to do beforehand.

I know Tony. Like convincing my husband.

After I accomplish that, then we'll start on the homework. There is a guy in the club that's just completing a GTV6 conversion and another that's just completing a BV8 conversion.

So we wouldn't have to swap out rear ends on anything after 1976. And for a V8 conversion, I'd rather do that to an RB, because of the height and because I like the 'ride' better.

I'm a LONG way from this project. LONG way.
