Get the book "Converting your MGB to V8 Power" & read it before asking questions/talking about it....it puts you on the right track....rear end is the least of your worries!
 
At 53 years old, rear end is a BIG worry.

Nah, hopefully it is a *little* worry /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

If you are serious, it is much better to buy a V8 conversion than to start from scratch. Even if you need to spend $5K to sort it, you'll still be ahead.
