FINALLY! I'm about to finish wiring the dash on the '73 MGB, so I can install it and move on to the carpets and the rest of the interior.

There are two wires yet to be identified. Both are green with a white stripe. They both emerge from the harness next to each other; both have a male bullet connector, and are located roughly between the fresh air vents and the glovebox. I've been able to trace one with a volt-ohm meter to a wire in the engine compartment, near the coil. Its end has a female spade terminal. Don't know what it's for. And I haven't been able to find the "other end" of the other green/white stripe wire.

Should these two be connected together? And what are they for?

Diagram and wire code info shows green/white are for turn signals, and they are working fine, including the arrow indicators on the dash. However, when I turn on the hazard flasher, only the right side blinks (not really concerned about that, though).

Hello Mickey, it appears that the green and white is for the right side signal lamps, and the hazard switch has a connection for each set of lamps. If the right side is the one not working, then that's probably the culprit. The wire coming off the hazard switch should go to a 3-way junction with one going off to the turn signal switch and one going under the hood where it meets up with the front and rear signal lamps. Hope this helps!

I have a bunch of wires coming out of my harness in that location on my '72 and they all are connected together with those of like colors. I have four green/white wires that are together into one of those splices covered with rubber.There are also four green solid color ones connected together and a couple of more of blue combinations but all go just to their matching colors. Now my bundle has been cut open there too and taped back up with electrical tape.

Thanks, Bob. Unfortunately, I didn't take this apart. When I got the car, the harness was already removed, and I transplanted it into the "new" body. What's puzzling is that these two wires are right together, yet they both have the male bullet connectors on them. And as I mentioned, one terminates under the hood near the coil. Can't find where the other one goes. I assumed they should be connected together, but they weren't, and it would seem that the one who removed all this would have left them together, or at least would have left the connector on one of them to signal that they should be hooked up.

What I need is another '73 to compare.

Anyone know what the green/white stripe wire near the coil hooks up to? It has a factory female spade lug terminal on it.

My '74, built in 12/73, had a couple of similar wires there too that I noticed when I put in the new carpet. I think mine were Green and Pink (maybe stained white?) and could not figure out what they were for sure, but I suspected they were for auxilary lights or something I did not have /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I will look tonight to see if I can tell where the wire to the coil area goes, but my engine compartment has so much overspray, I don't know if I will be able to tell.

hey...I looked...the only green/white near the Coil was to the winsheild washer pump, which is mounted right above the coil on the fender...and I have no idea where that comes from ???

Well, that's one! On mine, it's one of the two I was talking about, located behind the dash. Now, if I just knew what the other one's for, and whether to connect the two of them.

when I was fiddling with the wiring under the dash behind the radio console I too found a couple of green/white wires that seemed to go nowhere. I don't think the wiring is all that different between the 71 and the 73 (of course I could be wrong), but it appears through a couple of manuals that these are leads for the optional fog lights.

at least that's what I found in my mouse nest of wiring

That is what I recall too...I will look again when I gat time, but I did recheck the windshield washer pump and it does have 2 green and white wires with female spade terminals hooked to either side of the pump

I think so.. I think there were two (three?) wires from the harness into a double bullet connector that wasn't attached to anything. not 100% sure. if it matters any at the time I was alternating between the clymers and haynes wiring schematics.
