OK finally found some time to work on Bugsy and turn signals are once again working. Discoveries along the way ked me to the conclusion that:
1) After 10 years time to go back and clean up all of the bullet connectors uner the dash. Dremel tool with a small cone shaped sanding bit works great along with a mini wire wheel brush for the outside.
2) Changing to a smaller flasher from the heavy duty unit I had in there probably fixed the flasher issue.
3)Don't allow your 8,9,10,11 y.o. grandsons to make Vroom, Vroom noises while simultanteously yanking hard on turn signals and wiper stalks. As much as I loved wathching these little guys place race car driver I missed the last 3-4 week of fabulous fall driving as I had the dash torn apart t ofix turn signals that quit working.
One curious thing I need help to explain. The Panasonic Radio/CD Player I have installed in the console goes Beep/Beep normally when I turn off the ingnition. The radio does get a trickle constantly off of the batttery as a keep alive for the station settings. OK normal operation all is well.
I went to bolt up the steering column after getting all of the plastic put back in place for the column surround and all of a sudden radio goes beep /beep as I touched the column to the underside of the dash and began to bolt it into place. My question is why? Negative ground car,is there something to do with the ground on the horn stalk when I connected the column. But the horn works with the lights/horn switch hanging down and not screwed into place on the steering column. This one is a mystery and perhaps I've got some sort of electrical leakage/short I need to be concerned about. Thoughts gentlemen?
Another hour's worth of work and console will be back in place , wires all rebundled and tie wrapped, shifter reinstalled, vacumned and mnaybe a drive this afternoon. Yeah!!!!
