TR5/TR250 Trying to figure out rear transmission mount with a J type tranny

first of all I have a later Tr6 frame under my 250. Installed the tranny today and had difficulties with the rear mount. I have that angled mount with the 2 cylinder type rubber mounts. It had an adapter that bolted in front of that for the 4 speed. I removed that but the studs were too far back. Does the bottom plate have to be moved? I have pics but was not able to get them out of my camera tonight. I'll try tomorrow.

Hope this helps. I'm sure I've got all the correct pieces to do it it's just a matter of order.

Thanks poolboy. I was looking at that this morning and those are the parts I have. However something must not be assembled correctly. The lower bracket may need to come back into the other holes on the tabs welded to the frame.
I think this weekend I'll disassemble them and see if the bracket moves back. You can see the extra hole and the one in front is elongated to accept the angled part of the bracket. That looks like it will pick up the extra length I need.

What year is the frame you're using ?
Don't quote me but there may be a difference in the pre 73 frames for mounting the A type OD's

My book shows two different mounts TR 250 /6 to CC85737-- Latter TR 6 CFI on The latter has the round rubber mounts. My TR6 1973 has the latter mounts and the holes are slotted with an OD. If you installed the front motor mounts to block to the rear apox 1/2 inch so front pully has room between front support tube so fan belt passes. you may need the other early mounts. I can not find any measurements to help. Madflyer

I don't see the adapter plates (moss# 59&60) that bolts in between rubber mounts and bottom of trans.
Marv

Reread your post, you have plates, yes the frame mount will need mod. Install mount (with frame mount) on trans and drop down. Thats where you will have to redrill holes.

Bottom plate that mounts to frame will have to be cut and drilled. Hard to do with tran in place. You might get by fabbing another plate to slip under existing one. Not a lot weight or torque there so a thin plate could be used.

Just as I suspected I move the bottom plate to the 2 rear holes on the frame mount and every seems o line up perfectly. Now I don't have everything securely bolted in but it looks like that is the set up. When I removed the rubber mounts one of them has perished so I'll have to wait till next week when my local Triumph shop opens up to get 2 new ones.
