TR6 Trunk mounted brake light for TR6

I like the lights but how are they mounted when the hard top is off and the rag top is down??? I am on the trail of a mercedes 560 SL third light

Hondo, in my case the hardtop is on for good, so that issue doesn't come up. What about mounting the light to a thin piece of metal using some sort of epoxy and then bending the metal around 180 degrees so that it can fit at the front edge of the trunk. To hold it still, from inside the trunk you could use several grub screws that would retain it without having to drill hole in the trunk itself.

Hondo et al- also take a look at the GM suv-minivan 3rd light that is exterior, roof mounted. I got one on eBay for $40, & will mount it on the trunk just behind the gas cap on my SP250. Our rear deck designs are very much alike.

I would prefer not to have any rigged things on the car. I dont want to fab up some kind of metal piece, Even if I drill holes in the trunk deck at least it would appear to be factory even though its not, I dont have and dont plan on any car shows, at least it came from a british car

I mounted a third light from a hot rod catalogue. I have a hard top and not very hard to install or see from behind. Just last week I got a kit from GoMiniGo to make it flash 4 times then stay on when use the brakes. Person behind would have to be blind not to see me braking.

I received the jag XJS trunk mounted brake light today, primed the housing, going to the paint store tomorrorw and painting this weekend, have the template cut and going to mount it to the boot, I know its not original but if your rear ended who care then, will post pics when its done

Paul & Bill - What cars or vans did your LED strips come from ?

Hey, Don. Mine is a generic LED strip that I found in a NAPA catalog.

The housing is custom formed and welded to the roll bar. I ran the wire down through the roll bar and connected into the brake lights. Draws almost no amps.

I would like to know exactly hoe you guys wired the light in.
