Triumphs at Watkins Glen!!!!!!!!

If someone would like to ride right seat in the Tour du Marque at The Glen on Friday, September 5, show up at the Wings of Eagles Museum at 8:30 A.M. (or earlier if you want to tour the museum). Look for a funky old powder blue TR3 with painted wire wheels and a luggage rack. The driver is short, fat, and ugly with a grey pony tail and whiskers and mabe breathing oxygen from a cylinder.

If that didn't scare you off:

The tour includes laps of the old street course, laps of the current track, brunch at the track, parking downtown, and a ticket.

John:

When we get to our age, we never say "ugly".

We say, "His appearance has character". :jester:

So noted, Nial.

Wow! PMs flying all over the place!

Anyway, Ben. I'm pretty sure we can put you on the crew list. Just remind me as we get closer to the date.
They may actually need some workers (not flaggers...that's already covered).
But maybe pit-in/pit-out and/or stuff like that.
That'd be cool . I could do that. Just explain what I need to do and I'll do it!
I'll get back with ya later then.

I'm driving up on Thursday, pm. Haven't reserved a motel room yet. Any suggestions? I'm taking back roads through PA, e.g. Rt10, Rt61 (Yuengling Brewery - Pottsville),Rt42, Rt220, overnight in Sayer. Early am Friday to WG. Anyone want to meet for breakfast Friday morning?

Is there a convoy forming?

I think TRF uncle Dave is coming.

Ya might wanna keep your room in Sayre. I think most of the local hotels are booked. There are a few here in Horseheads, but some of them are pretty seedy. I'll ask around to see what I can find.
I'd meet with ya for Breakfast, but I'm meeting John at the Warplane museum at 8 am for the tour. most of the tours get underway right about then, so anybody involved is gonna be doing that. But we'll all be in Watkins by 2:00 or so. the morning in town is pretty quiet. Around noon or 1 it starts to pick up.
Take a hike up in the glen in the morning. it's a really neat walk.

Here is the current race car count...

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]6 TR-3

12 TR-4

1 TR-250K

6 TR-6

5 Spitfires

0 GT-6

3 TR-7/TR-8

3 Triumph based specials

36 TOTAL Triumphs (up to 8/20)[/QUOTE]

Somebody better hire a flatbed to follow. 36 cars is way over the ratio of running /not running.

Excellent! Now we gotta set up some BCF-staffed-nutrtional-intake-events. hehehehe.

Oh no!! I've hit a snag! Friday is great, but I've been reminded of a major reunion I must attend on saturday (and it ain't the Triumph one) So now I don't know if I can make it to the track on sat!!!!
Maybe I can sneak up for the AM.

I found a few houses and cottages for rent. Houses usually sleep up to 8, so you can split costs. Cottages are located on the lake. One house is 5 minutes from the track, an A frame owned by Porsche owner.

Wish I had the time to arrive in a motor home and camp at the track ...
