TRANSMISSION LUBE CAPACITY

What's the recommended amount of lube for the 62 AH Sprite transmission....I'm having to fill from the stick shift assembly and I fill it up all the way into the upper unit.....only problem is the top portion leaks out fairly quickly and then stops when it lowers to the main gearbox..
Am I overfilling since I'm not usin ghte tunnel plug or just a benefactor of leaking seals?

I think it's 2.7pints (1.3 US quarts) of 20w50 for the gearbox on the Sprite. I just did mine on my 71 midget, and this got me thinking I may have put in too little. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif I'll have to check!

I think someone in the past said their gearbox leaked when they overfilled it- hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in here.

That's why I'm thinking since I fill it at the Gear Stick that is on top. The actual filler plug being on the side of tunnel wouldn't seem able to fill up to that level...like
you I'm getting in spring maintenance mode of vehicles and would rather skip the slippry clean up on this one..but want
to ensure everythings getting the juice as needed...THANKS

If you fill it through the side filler, plug at front drivers side of tunnel you can only put 1.7 pts in before it starts comming out.

Use one of those oil can pumps from Auto whatever, they have a plastic hose that makes the job easy. About 3 bucks.
