TR6 Tr6 won't go into gear

I have not driven my 6 in over a month, and went to go for a spin this morning and:
won't go into gear
clutch pedal feels notchy
new slave cylinder 4-5 months ago
clutch master full of fluid

where do I start?

If the clutch feels notchy, could it be the dreaded fork to shaft pin sheared?

Start with the least panic issue first: Warm up the engine to normal, turn it off. Put it in second gear, clutch to the board, hit the starter. If the clutch driven plate is rusted to the flywheel that *should* break it free... Be aware of what's in front of you in casae it lights and doesn't free off the clutch!!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

"TR6 wont go into gear"...sure it will,..you're just afraid of busting some gears is all...other than that do as DrE suggests. Then let us know what if that worked,...we have many more expensive ideas for you to try.

forgot to add, when one piece of hydrolics is replaced,it inevitably means the other will go shortly. They tag team ya.

Well got back from work, tried DrEntropy's unstick the clutch method, and IT WORKED.
Went for a 10 mile run and all is well.
Thanks again.
It has been 100 Degrees most of the last month with stifling humidity, so .......

Remember Douglas Adams' calming words: "DON'T PANIC!" /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Glad to hear it weren't anything REALLY serious. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Once in a while you 'rumphy guys amaze me: Takin' th' word of an MG/Lotus/Alfa type on FAITH alone! Very brave. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Although I appreciate it very much you have to admit Doc, there wasn't a whole lot of risk in your recomendation.
Besides I am not one to pooh-pooh others choices of cars. Whatever turns you on is cool by me. It's a great hobby, and as an amatuer tinster I am always gratefull for you guys on the BCF.
Never would have thought one month could cause the plate to stick though. Drove again this a.m. and all is well.

A new term is created. I like it Roofy

Well Doc/ Roofster-

Sometimes when an amateur person, like yours truly,
is so ignorant of things mechanical to know something
cannot possibly be accomplished, we forge ahead blindly
and once in a while find that silver dollar buried in
the mound of horse dung.

Sometimes we bust a knuckle or two in the process.

Well Doc, if anyone would be qualified to talk about 'stuck clutches' it would be an MG/Lotus/Alfa type that lives in Florida. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Bite yer tongue, Shawn. Only ever happened to me personally when I lived up in western PA. Left the "little" Elan sit for a month or two in a dirt-floor garage inna winter. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif

...though I have seen quite a few come thru the shop here. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
