Which Avid is it,& where can you get them for $48?

Just for your information, the tire store that I recommended to the Pharmacist is a locally owned, full service repair facility that sells top brand tires at very competitive prices. He is familiar with them and has used them for other work in the past. They are not "cheap", but they do excellent work.

I have Goodyear's, purchased and installed by a local national retailer, who happened to be running a sale. I would hardly call that "cheap" and I debated over Michelin's, but price had nothing to do with it. Your opinion about Michelin is yours and I respect that, but I don't get indignant about it.

Get over your ebay auction crap and quit insulting people here. If you don't like it here, why bother coming back to insult people? You just can't seem to go a day without trying to stir something up and no one is really interested in that foolishness here.

Where is a Phamacist's forum where I can go and find out where to get a prescription "on the cheap"? You people want more for a prescription than a set of tires cost, then you come in here and look for some cheap tires. Well, you came to the right place, cause these guys are on the cheap. And, hey, you guys, you all left out Pep Boys and Wal-Mart, you get what you pay for, you hope, anyhow. PS, and don't tell me you don't have anything to do with the price of prescriptions, I don't want to here it. The only tires worth having these days are Michelin, and the people in here and you are to cheap to pay for them.

Its always funny when I hear this argument, but i'll try to give you a quick perspective of a different angle. Where was everyone last year saying poor Pfizer after they took a billion dollar hit on a failed cholesterol medication and had to lay off a bunch of employees. They are also loosing over 14 billion dollars of annual sales in the next year on patents that have run out. You gotta understand that these patents only are good for ten years, and thats from the time of patent and new drug applications are submitted. So technically a drug could be on the market, available to the public, for only 2-3 years. This means that the drug companies have to get in and get out quick with their money sometimes. This country makes it impossible for drug companies to try and develop new drugs because there are no incentives and everyones afraid of being sued. The other problem is that healthcare costs are going way up because hospitals are forced to take on illegal immigrants and you and I pay for them. We have an illegal alien at the hospital now who jumped on a bus and somehow made it to the foodsteps of Roger Williams Hospital and guess what he's now a chronic dialysis patient costing this healthcare system about $200,000 every year. THATS ONE PERSON! This is wayyy off topic now.... Oh and yes your right, pharmacies do certainly make their money.

Despite not being Michelin's, I think they're good tires... however I am thinking about taking a white sharpie and scripting the word: "M I C H E L I N" on the side of each tire... I like to hang with the high brows you see. :wink:

TR6 original tires are 185/80/15. Plug in whatever sizes anyone wants to try in the second spot to see the differences.

205/70/15 is a great size and doesn't mess up your speedometer. If you are changing wheels, a whole new world opens up.

I went with the Yokohoma AVID TRZ. A lot of TR6 owners run the 205/70/15’s on their stock wheels. I bought them from a local dealer out here and paid $400 after tax and installation (you can do it cheaper than that if you buy from tirerack.com).
As far as the camera it’s a Sony Cybershot N2, I am embarrassed to tell you how much I paid…. Believe it or not that’s the original paint job on my car.

ok, so this is a bit off topic, but what is the original size of a gt6 factory tire? for my 13" X 4.5" J wheels it says 155 SR-13, but isn't 'S' a load rating and 'R' a speed rating? what's my third number so i can compare different sizes? thanks, and do carry on with the nice pics.

The 155 is the width in mm
The 13 is the wheel diameter in inches
What you're missing is the profile ratio in the middle numeric position, that's the ratio between the height of the tire (how tall it is)relative to the width.
typicaly modern cars are 55 or 60
Our older cars tend to be more like a 70 ie taller, I'm not sure what a GT6 originaly had.

And I have Goodpart springs front and rear which lower the car about one inch, plus tube shook conversion in rear.

The Pirelli P4000 is a great tire, for about 8000 miles. They look fantastic in the wheel well (and yes, the 215 <span style="text-decoration: underline">will</span> rub), are relatively cheap, have wonderful dry traction but suck when it rains. They are not considered a high-end tire (unlike Pirelli's P6, etc.) but I loved the set I once had. Until they just flat wore out.

I am currently running 205-70R15 Michelin Hydroedge tires that give me uncanny wet traction, excellent dry traction, and superior handling. It is just that they are so darn pricy. I got 110,000 miles on my last set of Michelins on my Tahoe. They still had tread when I changed them. I have about 10,000 miles on the Hydroedges on the TR6 and see no appreciable wear.
