TR6 TR6 Fuel Injection ?

We are still taking the 72 TR6 apart...and making pretty good
progress. Today I ran into a TR6 owner from Tahoe that had
installed a PAtton Machine fuel injection system in his 74
TR6. Any feedback from the forum re this system? Any other
FI systems that we should be considering? Thanks, Gil

I've had it on my TR-6 for over two years. It's worked well, and I haven't had to replace any parts yet, including the cap, rotor and spark plugs. Always starts right up and is ready to go. Takes a few programing changes to get it 'dialed in' initially, but then it's good to go. It's interesting to hook it up to the laptop going down the road and seeing how the engine is performing. Rick has been great to work with and is very supportive. I'm in the middle of replacing the engine (non original high mileage engine with nearly no oil pressure), so I'll probably need to have the program checked to be sure its doing as well as it can. I reworked the wiring harness to keep it hidden. There are more sophisticated systems out there, but this is a more basic system that works very well. Here's a picture of the old engine:

Gil - if you are really serious about this let us know. This topic comes up from time to time and I'm kind of itching to give it a try as well. Maybe we could get a couple of use together and do a virtual group build to help one-another through it?

Is in the plans and that's 1 reason I want to pull the tank. To prepare it for that.

Thanks guys for the replies.
TDSKIP excellent to Bob Daniels web site! Lots of helpful info there!
We are in NorCalif...so probably won't work to pull together
a project together with anyone else...but you never know.
Probably 6 month away from starting this as car is still coming apart. Gotta say the idea of the F I is got the wheels turning! Gil

Hi Gil - yeah, knew you where up North (relatively speaking anyway). Thought we could document our steps/progress here and augment Bob's write ups but no biggie either way.

I've had Rick Patton's TBI conversion in my car since '05/06 and I haven't touched anything.........not the timing or the plugs or anything! It starts right up regardless of temperature and idles and runs smoothly. It pulls to the redline with no problem. No stumbles, hesitations or backfires and it gets GREAT gas mileage. The key to this install is following directions! Sounds simple but the people who have had problems are the ones who bought the kit and handed it off to the "pro" to install.........I don't need no stinkin directions........ :nonod:

My whole installation is well documented on my site. :driving:

TD SKIP...Would be happy to post when we are ready to start the project...you are right...would be good to compare notes
as the projects go along! Gil
