TR6 TR6 engine replacement options ?

For those of you, who have yet to read the Amos dream post, this thread seems to have become obsolete.

For now......

"Not too Gaudy or Flashy"!!!!

"I don`t think so"!!!!

To me; "RIDICULOUS"!!!!

Well if yer gunna modifie a TR6 to the unltimate,
that would be the way to do it!

I think he he a wonderful job (classy)

That Pontiac engined car really is hidiously ugly!

If one were to do a swap on a TR-6 (understand that I do NOT advocate this), one might want to look at other straight 6 possibilities.

I'm pretty sure someone on here has a TR6 Supra project in progress. I remember seeing a video of it. I'd be interested to know how that is turning out.

As far as TRED's Pontiac powered TR6 goes, I think it's awesome and shows true skilled workmanship. If he were shooting for a concourse restoration, of which there are MANY, he failed miserably. If he was shooting for a mind-blowing muscle car in a sleek and unique body (one that would have otherwise ended up in a scrap heap) that he and his son can feel extremely proud about having accomplished together, I would say he succeeded, and way beyond excellent at that. I think he was going for the latter.

That's my vote anyway.

:iagree:

There is at least one Supra powered TR6 build in progress represented on this forum and then Milemarker60's M3 engined TR6.

Dale, in all seriousness, all the joy/grief that you have gotten out of your car and you have yet to touch the one thing that will cause you the most grief/joy - the engine/tranny. Multiply times 2 that amount of joy, and money. I would think you could get a really, really nice used Miata for, say, 10 grand or even less. Heck, brand new ones are in just the low 20s. They are sweet little cars and very reliable. The same amount of joy as driving an LBC, without the breakdowns. Just being practical, bud. Shucks, I have considered the same for my beast, it is just that my wife would kill me.

Bill, you were MIA and now I see you are a Freshman member! What happened?

What about the guy doing the BMW swap, what ever happened to that?

If it's all about surprising boy racers in rice rockets then give me a "sleeper" car any day. You know what they say about the old guy who buys a new Corvette...

Just pull the TR body off & slap it on a Toyota Corolla Chassis.

As far as the Supra project, I am hoping it will go to paint in October. I had to deal with all the typical rust problems of the 6. Installing the last sill today.

The TR with the M engine is fully painted and he just got done aligning all the panels, so it should be all together any day now.
