TR6 TR6 Door Glass

Folks,

I am looking for some advice to help a friend with his TR6.

He cannot get the door windows to mate up with the top and windshield. At one side, the glass stops about an inch short of the top.
At other side, the glass is not parallel with the windshield, having a gap between the glass and top of the windshield of around 1/4 inch and around 3/4 inch at the bottom.

Any advise you could off would be appreciated.

1. Remove the door panels. Use a screwdriver and an ice pick or a nail to drive out the metal pieces holding the handles to the shafts.
2. The glass should fit squarely and snugly in the lift channel. Run the windows up and down to see what the problem is. It should be obvious.
3. While you're in there, squirt some oil on the mechanism to make it work smoothly. It may be tight - my driver side is but the passenger side is looser.
4. Some of the real experts on this Forum could give you more detailed advice but without taking the panel off, you won't be able to find and fix the problem. Hope this helps.
 
Very often the fitting of the window with the windshield is the problem with the windshield being incorrectly fitted. Use the windows to position the windshield . You will need to loosen the posts at the bottom of the windshield and likely the fasteners at front and center of the dash . While windshield is loose raise the windows on each side to get the correct angle for the windshield.
A second note is that the base of the windshield fastener has both a nut on the end plus a bracket that is bolted to the body. To change the angle of the windshield those need to be loosened.
 
There is also a little stop inside the door frame that limits the up and down travel of the window. It is secured with 2 set screws. These need to be loosened to adjust the stop.

It is kind of a distant memory, but I know my windows didn't line up well with the windshield when I did my TR250. I recall adjusting the windshield to get the angle and gap right.
