TR6 TR6 bonnet help

Hello,
I have two realeases for my TR6 bonnet - the one with the handle on the driver side, and an emergency release on the passenger side. When I pull either release, the bonnet no longer pops up like it used to so that I can easily get my fingers underneath. Is this a matter of putting a new spring on the bonnet striker, or is there something else I am overlooking? Thank for your help.
Kevin

Kevin- If I remember correctly you should be able to adjust the spring tension on the plunger. There is a screw at the very end where the spring is and I think if you turn it in it will increase the tension.
Check the Bently Manual.

edit: Kevin- I also think there is a lock-nut at the top that will have to loosened and then tightened again after you use the adjusting screw to increase the tension. I will have a look at my car in the morning.

Kevin- OK, I just went out to the garage and checked mine... there definitely is a lock-nut at the top of the spring that needs to be loosened before you can add tension.

It will slightly increase the tension of the spring, but will also change the latching depth and can make the hood difficult shut and open. If you press down on the hood when it is latched and there is a little bit of loose movement, you can probably tighten it a little bit. If it is fairly firm, don't mess with it.

The catch plate and the hood fastener or pin have to line up just right or they will bind and the hood will not pop up. If this happens and your sure the they have released you can pull on the front edge of the hood and it should pop up. You can adjust the spring but don't get it to tight you may put a dent in the hood when you push it closed with your hand. Have you had the the plate or the pin off or loose from the car recently? It may be out of adjustment. You may need to see if the two parts align. I don't think you need a new spring unless it broke.

Don, I still have a week to go. I have enough credits from night school and summers so that I actually have this summer off for the most part. And believe it or not, I am finally done with the Bugeye, except for some minor details. I am going to enter the car show in Bellevue and Portland - my first shows ever. I am excited to be sitting in a seat instead of crawling on the ground. Now I can put some serious time into the TR6 next winter. Are you going to either show this year?
Kevin
