I just pulled the diff from my TR250 and swapped out the main seal, an observation and a couple questions.

The observation, they were still using leather seals on TR differentials in 1968.

The Question, the original plan was to replace the side pinion seals as well, but in looking at the diff it is clear that all the leaking was from the driveshaft seal, dry around the side pinions.

So I have the parts, I have it off, how hard are they to swap out, doesn't look too bad, but on the other hand I tend to not like to mess with things that "ain't broke"
 
When I replace the leaking pinion seal on my '73 TR6 I was also amazed to find a leather seal!

edit: Personally, if it's not leaking at the axle shafts I would leave them alone.
 
They were leather originally, and believe it or not, the leather lasted better (IMO) than the 'rubber' seals that the British had then.

I'd agree on not fixing the side seals if they aren't broke. Getting the assembly out of the diff isn't so bad, but then you'll need to press apart the locking taper, which pretty much requires a press and even then there is a chance of distorting and ruining the flanges.

Also check the seal surface of the front flange carefully while it's off. If you can't polish away any marks left by the old seal, you might want to consider installing a Speedi-Sleeve. I used to say only if you could feel the damage with a fingernail, then I had one leak that I couldn't feel.
 
Yhanks guys, think I will leave the sides alone, now I need to "eats me spinach" before I lift the diff back in....
