Following on from the spare engine post. The cylinder head that came with this engine doesn't appear to have 511695 stamped on it. How do I determine what modification state it actually is?

My current engine has a 511695 head, so I will swap that over if I have to.

Thanks Geo (and TeriAnn). It appears that I have acquired an early high port head (figure #2 on the list) in that job lot. First impressions are that it seems to be in good condition, although magnafluxing etc will need to be done to confirm that. It came with a late TR4 engine, but perhaps an earlier one was used as the donor for the rebuild that the PO did.

I don't know whether to keep it as an emergency spare or put it on eBay in case there is someone who wants a period head that looks correct for judging; if indeed the external differences are looked at that closely.
