TR2/3/3A TR3A Vacuum Advance Line

I'm getting ready to install a "rehabilitated" vacuum advance line I found in my spares box. During the clean up process I noticed that the fitting that attaches to the Carb had plumbers sealant residue on the threads. Is using a sealant in that spot a GOOD, BAD or DOESN'T MATTER idea?

Thanks, Tinkerman

Using a dab of "pipe dope" where the fitting screws into the carb body wouldn't hurt anything, and might help. But mine is installed dry and never had a problem.

I use teflon tape without a problem. Jim
