hi everyone... finally got my TR3a shipped from PA to FL. Quick question: the large manifold clamps: where the heck do they go?? I know where the 4 smaller clamps go, but for the life of me, I can't figure out where these 2 large ones go or what they hold down. I"m sure its right in front of my face, but I can't figure it out. any help sure would be appreciated. i'm pulling what little hair I have left right out of my head! Thanks!

They are for the two centermost studs under the manifold.

On mine the those studs are long enough that I have to fit the clamp (and lock washer and nut) before the manifold is fully home against the head -- otherwise there isn't enough room between the end of the stud and the manifold to get them on.

The big clamps go underneath the intake manifold, between the carbs. Sorry I can't find a good photo offhand.

As I recall, you have to first place those two bridge pieces and start the nuts over them before you slide the manifolds home against the head and install all the other hardware. When you do slide the manifolds home, make sure the intake fits over the dowel pins in the side of the head. You may have to lift and/or wiggle things to get it over the pins. What you don't want to do is try to force it over the pins by tightening the nuts (otherwise you'll have a leak).

Oops, I see Geo beat me to it. I wasted too much time looking for a photo
