TR2/3/3A TR3 wire wheels question

Has anyone use the knockoff whench that Moss sells. I am thinking about putting wire wheels on my Tr and wondered if the whench was all I would need or do I need a copper hammer also?
Thanks
Greg

By wrench I am assuming you mean the wooden template.

Yes I have used it - it's pretty good - just keep it centered on the center lug.

But you will need a hammer. I would pick up one of those lead filled plastic ones at Lowes for $10-$15.00.

A lead hammer or one of those dead blow plastic hammers will work fine without marring the knock-offs. Anything else such as copper or brass will mar the knock-offs. I'm not trying to turn you off to the wooden wrench, but it really isn't unnecessary if you have the right hammer. Here's some info on the various types of hammers.

I've been using a fairly large plastic dead blow hammer and it has not marred any of the chrome on the knock-offs, and has worked very well to tighten and loosen the knock-offs.

I too use a dead blow -- the 3 lbs version from Harbor Freight.

It is plastic covered but to be sure that the ears are not damaged I use a piece of oak 1"x1"x10" as a drift. Easy as pie.

I use a pure lead hammer I got from Hendrix wire wheel in NC for the wifes MGB. The wing nuts were new when the car was restored and they still look that way. The wheels come off and get cleaned before every show, so they get beat on frequently and there isn't a hint of a mark on any of them. I'm getting one for the TF when it's finished. I'll use nothing else. But that's just me. PJ
