Not for purists :nonono: :nonod:

Since my engine building skills are limited; (and I have a brother that is a mechanic) I'm nearly done with my portion of the engine rebuild on my TR3a, and I'm looking at the bodywork that will have to be done on the car. My car was in a front-end accident and therefore I have only one front fender and both inner fenders have some good dents.

By my estimation I'll have to cut out the inner fenders to repair or replace them (chassis is fine). This got me thinking (As I have a AH Bugeye) has any anyone seen a TR3 with a steel tilt front end? Can it be made to work? I just saw a fiberglass tilt on another forum, but that fabrication seems like too much work. Since my goal for the car is to have it look like a vintage street racer, I thought this might be a interesting modification. Your thoughts? Can it be done?

Not exactly what you may be looking for, but take a look at this.

I believe the owner is a member of the forum.

Thanks for the link. It will provide some nice ideas. What I need to do is make the bonnet slide forward a bit so the fenders will not hit the doors.

Maybe this advice is a bit early, but the Saab 99 hood had a hinge mechanism where, when released, the entire hood slid forward a bit and then could be pivoted up (at the front). I don't know if later Saabs had a similar arrangement.

I seem to remember that my 900 turbo did the same; that brought back memories.

Apbos,

I have seen a tilt front somewhere on the net. I didn't bookmark it's location but will scower the web to find it.

Be careful of purists they will nail your hinge mechanism to a wall.

Cheers.
