TR2/3/3A TR3 Temperature gauge

Thank you, David. Good points. As for everything on the dash working, not quite. The amber turn signal light and red engine on lights are not working; I assume burned out bulbs, but possible bad connections. The heater fan does not work either. None of these, except replacing the temperature gauge are critical to me.

But to get the temperature gauge in the upper right corner, I have to unbolt the panel (and of course, disconnect the oil pressure and choke). I can access the two bottom hex nuts (will replace with wing nuts). But I can’t even see the two top nuts. The old wiring is so dusty and dirty that I can only confirm the wire colors on about half the wires, and I can tell that some wires are not the original. I am wondering whether I can spray an electronic cleaner such as CRC on the back of the panel (battery disconnected, of course) and use small brushes to scour the wires clean. Any advice on this?

You could remove the Speedo or Tach to give you a bit more access to the back of the panel.

Do not know if electrical cleaner would help. Also the wires will probable be stiff with age.

David
