When you use a small 1/4" drive socket on the hexagon of the peg, the outside diameter of the socket should be just about touching the vinyl on the rear capping. For some of mine, I have to finish screwing the chromed pegs down with a tiny adjustable spanner (Westcott) because the extra thickness of the chrome they put on the hex prevents me from getting enough of the socket down onto the hex head. So the last few turns to tighten down the peg is slow - one hex flat at a time - so I don't scuff the red vinyl. But at VTR and TRA, the judges can't see this because their regs require that you have your top up for examination of the quality, workmanship and finish of the erected ragtop.
