TR2/3/3A TR3 progress pictures

Looks fantastic!

I'm slowly heading towards the restoration of mine and asking questions when I can.

What did you do with the intake, did you glass bead it or is it painted?

Do you happen to have a picture of the right side where the inner fender meets the firewall at the top? Mine was hit on that side 50 or so years ago and the repair is truly horrific. I need to cut that part out and rework it entirely but I'm not sure what it should really look like.

Luke my intention was to do it the way you are. My problem was that I still don't have a interior for the car. I've been in contact with Larry Learn about doing my interior. I just found the material I want to use, and I want to get started on it. The other thing was that I didn't want the paint to cure any longer before sanding. I let it cure for 2 months, after that it starts getting harder to work with. I wanted to sand the car all in one piece so I could block from one panel over to the next. Also it's good to have good support for the panels so you have the same amount of pressure on the block when sanding, cutting, and polishing. As for any scratches when doing all the other work I can only be carefull.

Dan if I had a TR250 I would paint it one of the factory colors. Not to many of those cars around. Your wife has good taste in colors, I could send you a sample of the color if your are considering painting your car Winchester Blue. It was not an easy task for the paint shop to get the color right.

Frank I think Winchester and the Grey Lady would look great together, maybe we could meet in the middle sometime.

Rob the intake was micro polished to it's original finish by Jeff at Paltech. You don't have to put any paint or anything on it after it's been polished. I don't know if this picture will help I can look latter for a close -up. It's time to take the dogs for a walk.

Forgive my ignorance and my apparent highjack of your thread, sorry about that but you have such a perfect example of a bare shell I can't help myself.

What is micro polishing? It still looks coarse for lack of a better word, when I think of polishing I think of shiny, that's whay I thought it may have been bead blasted. Looks perfect.

Here's the mucked up area of mine, it's actually much worse than it looks, there's a very wide scar connecting the two panels. It just looks rusty in the pic but there's about a 3/4" gutter between the two panels. I honestly don't even know how one could make such a hideous repair even if you wanted to.

Rob your car must have had some front end damage to the right side. The inner fender may have been replaced and it did not go well. Without seeing the car I can't tell what needs to be done. You may have to remove the welded area to make it look good. Micro polish is kind of a trade secret for Jeff on what media he uses. I believe it's done by putting the parts in a vibration tumbler. The process retains the original casting look.
