TR2/3/3A TR3 Bulkhead Sealer Plates

I'm putting in the bulkhead sealer plates I got from TRF. I bent them to fit, and riveted on the rubber piece up top. My question is, when installed, does the rubber flap bend toward the back of the car or the front. It looks cleaner towards the back. I would also imagine that this plate has to be positioned after the wing is in place.
 
My 2cents on these is to use a little sealer(buytal based) along the edges to make it water proof, which is a good thing.Before you seal this off dont forget to use the rust protectant of your choice very liberally since some water will find its way in anyhow.....
