Will Tr6 calipers mount on a TR3 brake mount? Need a new right caliper and can't find a decent replacement.

The short answer is NO. The mounting bracket for the TR6 calipers is different then the TR3 mounting bracket. The TR6 bracket has it's caliper mounting holes spaced farther out then the TR3's. Also, which calipers do you have on your TR3?? The earlier calipers are a single casting with the bridge pipe and uses an 11" rotor. The later ones use a 10 3/4" rotor. If you have the smaller rotors, you could theoretically use the TR6 bracket with a TR6 caliper, but then it would probably be best to do that to both sides.

I agree that TR6 calipers will not interchange unless you also change the mounting bracket and rotors. But the later TR3A calipers will interchange with the earlier TR3/A calipers (the ones with the crossover pipe). Even very early TR4 still had 11" rotors (but there were supposedly some TR3Bs with the smaller rotors).

Larry, there are currently two pairs of later TR3A/early TR4 calipers on eBay. The change point was slightly before TS60000, so these should be the proper calipers for your car.

I have a pair of the early calipers on my 61 tr4 parts car. they were rebuilt before it was parked for a long time. I'm not sure if the pistons are free any more but i could look into it if you are interested. $40 (canadian) plus shipping for the pair.
Rob
PS-these are the same as the tr3 calipers.
