Hi guys - question for the list. I have a friend who is a professional machinist and fabricator who is looking for fun projects to keep his shop busy.

I was thinking that there seems to be a short supply of correct seat adaptors/brackets to allow stock seat positions and tracks to allow for aftermarket seats to be fitted.

I do not want to step on anyone's toes or compete with an existing supplier (want to support the vendors who are helping us not compete).

What do you think?

i work at a salvage yard, and i constantly see seats that i wish i could fit to one of my spitfires.
but no time for metal work. (little Kids, you know)
what info would your friend need?

as long as we are not stepping on any toes.

I think we'd need an approach first. For example, stick with stock seat tracks and then manufacture adopter brackets so a Miata seat would fit? Or, build new seat tracks that the Miata seats then bolt directly on to.

Seems to me the major thing is to make sure that we don't change any of the existing seat track mounting points.

that makes sense, but would need to figure something for other than miata seats.
to scarce.

anybody have any ideas on the approach?
and do we have the blessing of the "Great Pumkin"?

I'm wondering if we'd need to make brackets specific to seat major seat type. Some for Miata, some for Corbeau etc..

Are there specific seats you think we'd need to cover / focus on?

Miata seats are scarce
My daughter , who hates my Wedge, likes the MR2 seats better.

I agree about the miata seats. Too hard to find. Does any one know what other kinds of seats fit in a TR and don't look too outlandish?

There is a guy in So. Cal. who parts out Mazda and has seats all the time.

so you would need the info for say,,,,,,,

04 sebring seats? the measurments of the sebring track?
and the application to say a 76 spitfire?

Well I image that once you got the hang of how to build the adaptors you could off options for the whole Triumph line...

hey, what"s it mean when you see the number of posts, then next to it you see a second number in red, in parentesess?
or am i going color blind?

As far as the Miata seats go, Joe Alexander and the late Uncle Jack Drews have just finished a run of brackets to make the Miata seats a drop in replacement. Here's Joe's web site if you want to contact him https://www.the-vintage-racer.com/ The site hasn't been updated with the brackets so you'll have to email him about them. Joe was also just featured in the Moss British Motoring magazine.
