My 1960 TR-3A had a telescoping steering column. I am installing a Mustang II front end (rack and pinion). Since my column was telescoping I do not know the correct position for a fixed steering wheel. Can someone please provide four measurments all from the back of the wheel.

1-Top left approximately 10 o'clock from the back of the steering wheel to the leather cap surrounding the cockpit.
2-Top right approximately 2 o'clock from the back of the steering wheel to the leather cap surrounding the cockpit.
3-Bottom right approximately 4 o'clock from the back of the steering wheel to the bottom of the dash.
4-Bottom left approximately 8 o'clock from the back of the steering wheel to the bottom of the dash.

Thank you-Tom

I'm not sure if I understand, but the 4th measurement is more like 9 o'clock, than 8, but this is what I measured on my car with a stock 17" wheel -and I have the upper column adjusted so it rests up against the bottom of the dash. These are not very exact since the references are sort of vague.

1/10 2 1/4"
2/2 2 3/4"
3/4 4 1/2"
4/9 4 1/4"

I was surprised how far up the wheel could be moved with the threaded rod under the dash, and the swivel on the steering box. At first, the wheel was in the way as I tried to get in and out of the car. A smaller wheel would change things.

Well said...in practice you want it close to the dash as you can get it without rapping your knuckles!

Wonder why the OP isn't going with a TR 4 R&P.....
