Need your sage advice regarding the correct point for connecting the earthing strap between the engine and chassis. I understand the connection is near the engine mount, but could not remember if it was the driver or passenger side. Any photos would be appreciated.

Driver side - attaches between one bolt of the engine mount at the frame and the front engine plate.

Sorry no picture handy.

Not quite sure, but doesn't look right to me. Looks like you got it on the pinch bolt for the steering tube; instead of the bolt for the motor mount to the frame.

However I believe the other end is correct, on the block side of one of the timing cover bolts. This is mentioned in the factory workshop manual, in the section about installing the timing cover (bottom of B34).
 
Randall - you have a photographic memory. Just checked my old workshop manual and that's exactly what it says at the bottom of Engine, p. 34.

AGAIN...

Bentley P34 bottom as Randal pointed out

"NOTE - See that the short earth bonding strip from engine to chassis frame is attached under the head of the bolt which aligns with the L.H. rubber mounting attaching nut."

To further clarify, it attaches to one of the timing cover bolts that goes through the front engine plate - one of the ones with a bolt through rather than into the block. The other side bridges the rubber engine mounting to complete the ground.

Anyway, I went out to my shop and tool a couple of pictures for you. This is looking over the driver side front fender to the left of the distributor, radiator hose on left. The ground wire loops around out of the picture

I couldn't get all the connections in focus at the same time so I made an inset with detail of the upper attachment.

Hope this helps. I know pictures always work better with me too.

Nah, what I've got is a PDF file of the Bentley manual on every computer
