I have sanded, prepped and painted my TR-3 fuel tank. I believe the two bridges or saddles on the left and right had felt on them. There was some pitting on the exterior of the tank on the bottom which leads me to believe it touched the pan in the car. Should it touch? Should it have felt under the tank body where it may touch the pan or just on the two saddles/bridges? Thanks Tom

There is a felt material that goes under the tan and the securing straps to prevent chaffing of a metal to metal contact.
