Towing an XJ6

I am towing an XJ6 about 60 miles with a tow dolly and wondering if there will be any issues or concerns. I've used this dolly to tow MG's with ease. It's a Master Tow dolly and I am using my Expedition. The car's wheels are free but I am unsure if I should disconnect anything before I go or can I just hitch it up & go.

If you could PM me I'd appreciate it.

Thanks
Vince

If it's an automatic, you may have problems. I cannot remember, but if the oil pump on the Jag is splined to the input shaft, then you should not tow.
When the rear wheels are turning, so is the drive (prop) shaft, and so then are the box internals. They will not survive 60 miles.
On the MGB the same situation applies, as the wheels are turning the gear (upper) shaft. The countershaft, in the bottom of the case is not turning, and it is that turning motion that splashes oil to the gear shaft. However a manual box will survive about 500 miles without needing to be driven a bit to re-splash the gears. An automatic will not.
An alternative choice would be to place the back wheels on the dolly and lock or tie the steering wheel straight.

somewhere on this or another thread that I ca't find, I answered "if I were to move my XJ6 anyway but under its own power, it'd be on a roll-back"...can't find that post but the answer is above...I'd be afraid to flat tow an automatic transmissioned Jaguar
