Too Dang Hot to Drive

It's been mid to upper 90s all week here in Chicago and expected to keep going like this into next week. 99 yesterday with heat index near 107. I don't mind it, helps me work on a tan!
 
You're right. The autocross scheduled for this weekend was cancelled due to forecast high heat indices.

They don't usually cancel because of heat, but it was done for the possible health risk to the participants.
 
Been pretty brutal down here as well. To be expected this time of year but this year is worst than most. Worked on the TR3 in the garage from 6-10 last night to escape the worst of the heat, but still think I lost about 2 gallons of water, or so it seemed after looking like I got soaked with a garden hose. On the bright side, it was only about 85 when I took it for a spin at about 10:15!
 
It's 98 here right now, supposed to get to 101 tomorrow.

And, I need to mow my grass. Ugh. :cryin:

101.3 last night, was a great time to get the Cobra out for a drive down to Des Moines. I find the old cars are suited well to driving in hot weather because the windows (or lack there of) are designed for keeping you cool without AC.

Good point! First off, my Herald sedan is white, which helps keep things a bit cooler. Second, cracking the door windows and opening the vent windows wide goes a long way towards keeping air moving!

It's in the high 90s here in Albany, NY, today. I could complain...but then I remember that my daughter has been in basic training @ Ft. Sill, OK, for several weeks, where it's been near or often well over 100 pretty much the entire time she's been there!
 
In all honesty, I am kinda enjoying the heat. Reminds me of being in Guam.

It has been a bit warmer than usual. I saw 104 on the thermometer over the weekend (in the shade). We planned to take the TR6 to the country, and then on to Austin with the top down, but the midday sun changed our minds. I put the top up in the garage. The heat made it the easiest top-up I've ever accomplished. -barely got a sweat on. But before I got out of the garage, we opted to make the drive with a vehicle with working A/C. -The TR6 A/C is still not functional. It's been over a month since the TR6 has been out of the garage (even at night).

I've managed a little garage time with the TR3, but the heat slows me down.

Just plain stupidity on my part, I was trying to get the car on jack stands, I didn't have the jack in the right place to get the jack stand where I wanted it, I thought I had put the jack stand out of harms way before I lowered the car...it crunched the racker so bad I had to cut out a few inchs of metal and weld a patch in, it looks good as new now, but weeks worth of work to get it that way.

The Harbor Freight Racing Aluminum Floor Jack is a nice jack, but it lowers very quickly when you release the valve, I guess that is the "racing" part, save you time in the pit stops...
 
I have one of those Harbor Freight Racing Aluminum Floor Jacks and it is great... but as you say, it lowers very quickly. I always crank the handle VERY slowly, bit by bit, until I see that the car is beginning to lower. Then a little bit more and let it come down at its own slow speed. One problem is that the handle doesn't turn smoothly or easily, so it is easy to overdo it and have the car come down too quickly.

Nice thing about the jack is that it fits under the TR3, even the front of the car under the stabilizer.
 
I have one of those too and I only used it once to test it when I took it out of the box. Mine did not seem abnormally fast to me.
