This is happening now - helicopters all over the place - Cops and swat teams in the area. Sitting tight with my "equalizer" handy just in case. This is very close to home.

Keep your OODA Loop in mind...

By the way, State Road 333 is also known as old RT 66. We live just off that road.

Be safe!

SitRep?

Not something you want to walk into. I just missed walking into an armed holdup of my bank last year by about 15 minutes. Police were just getting out when I arrived to cash a check. Needless to say, I came back the next day.

Word on the street is two suspects in custody.

Pleased to learn it ended with the morons in custody.

Not a bank, but a drive-thru "Beverage Castle" we would frequent. State Fair was under way. Not to cast aspersions on the folks who run those venues but it seems to attract a certain bunch of ne'er-do-well types as followers. We stopped one evening to get my usual one liter Canada Dry Ginger Ale, asked the employee for it and was told they were "out of that just now". There was one guy on foot standing at a cooler a few yards away, kind of "milling around" with hands in pockets. Not odd to see someone on foot in the place, though. I asked for a Vernor's substitute and as he handed it to me, in a low voice the attendant said: "We're being robbed". I paid, winked acknowledgement, thanked him and left (in the MGB, BTW). We drove to the fairground entrance a few hundred yards away, where I knew a State Trooper was monitoring entrance traffic and told him of the situation. Response was quick, the perp was caught running into a pasture behind the business and the attendant was unharmed. But the adrenaline rush and the effort to "keep calm" so as not to arouse the robber's suspicion put me into that aforementioned OODA Loop. Was I "carrying"? Yes. Was the situation one to allow advantage? No. And we got "free" ginger ale a couple times after that. πŸ˜‰

Well, unfortunately it turns out the two they snagged yesterday turned out to be to wrong people. Perps are still at large.

ACK!!

Keep yer head up.

Someone just posted this on our Nextdoor neighborhood page -

Two suspects, Caleb Dustin Elledge (24) and Alanna Martinez (22), that were involved in shooting the New Mexico State Police officer yesterday were arrested today, Saturday Feb 12 2022, in Estancia/Macintosh.
Estancia is about 30 miles south of where I live.

Yesterday some homeless guy went on a stabbing rampage. Started on Central Avenue downtown and proceeded east on central all the way to Wyoming (a few miles). He was randomly stabbing people (11 in total). Two are in critical condition. Fortunately the police caught up with him and were able to apprehend.

Must be something in the water.

Well, isn't this a fine how do you do. I just got a text message a few minutes ago from a retired cop friend of mine - he informed me there was a shootout of some sort at the Sheriff's office in town. Don't have any details yet other than the perp has assumed room temperature and luckily no cops injured. Hoping to learn more on the 10 O'clock news.

Heard here it was a stabbing. I hadn't followed through looking for other accounts.

Crazy times.
