hmmm - this doesn't sound good ...

website doesn't respond to my browser

ping to his site, and to his IP, just times out, so it's not a DNS problem

whois to website name yields "no match found" ( ?????? )

whois to his site server shows VIA Networks in Atlanta

VIA networks site is slow but does work through browser

Was Tony considering moving his site?

Tom

Blank (page loading error) on my screen and same ping results as Tom.

Same here

YIKES!

I was able to get to it quickly. Probably just some maintainance. I have trouble getting here (BCF) every night around 10:30 Pacific time.

Bout time I thought it was just me . Yes every since those UBB threads turned back up, at 10 PM I am virtually dead on this forum.--Keoke

If your on pacific time then it is probably when the server is doing nightly ful backups.

It is back up...I haven't been able to ask them what the problem was as every time I call the message says all their techs are busy with other customers.

One of the reasons Basil & I are working to get me off ViaNetworks is, since they were bought out by a company in the UK, their tech support sucks! When its there, it is great, when not - not!

Way back when I went with them, they advertised tech support 24-7 & I could always get someone. Then they were bought out & decided to do away with the shared server part of the business by attrition. Then they went to tech support 24/5 & up til 10pm eastern on weekends but linking to a phone block in London during other hours to maintain their "24/7" promise. Problem is all the guys in the UK do is make a ticket that they turn in the next business day - I can do that!

When I finally got high enough up the chain to complain to somebody who knew anything, I found I was one of a group of dwindling "legacy" customers - people whe had been on their shared servers for a long time & stayed with ViaNetworks (& this may have been the preponderance of all my site & email problems over the years since I became a "legacy" customer!).

Not much longer!

Glad you're back up and running Tony.

Of course, even with 24/7 tech support, in this case you'd probably just get a pre-recorded message saying "We're sorry, but our system is down. We're working on it just as fast as we possibly can."

And some real purty music

Ain't it great?

Tom

I can relate Tony. I had a large site for a business I had some years ago. I had it hosted with Berbee and loved the service. Then they were sold and the policies changed and so did I. Not sure why some companies are against success.

Got it - am in hotel tonight & tomorrow night...will try when I'm home.

What do you mean Hotel. Ya just posted pics of the gran kids.

They were already resident in my laptop...gotta have them close!

Did lots of fencing today....set my RV on a nice spot on the farm & got it leveled, hired electrician to bring power to it, cleaned yeard & side fields of downed tree limbs, etc., have somebody pruning the orchard....tired!!

Going home tomorrow.

Fencing? Foil, Eppe or sabre?
