I seem to remember you two discussing the tie a while back...
 
It was all in jest, Bryan. This was NEVER imagined. I'm almost ashamed now... like it was some sorta "golden beebee" or somethin.

You can relate, I'm sure.
 
I have not been very active here over the last few years but I was extremely shocked and saddened to hear the news so I had to step in and offer my deepest condolences to Jerri and family. I learnt alot from Tony, whenever I had a problem, whether it be car related or otherwise Tony always offered his wisdom and assistance. Although I never met him in person I feel I have lost a dear friend.
Tony en-riched this site with his extensive knowledge and enthusiasim for the hobby...I am sure his memory will live on in the hearts of us forumers as well as in the British Car Hobby.

BTW: When I signed on today I noticed Tony's name at the top of the 'top posters' list....Where I always remember it. I think one of the things we should do in his honor is to keep it there - regardless of count.
 
It has taken me several days to even comprehend Tony's passing-
Shock and disbelief followed by depression.
All of my prayers are out for him and his family and hope that Jerri recovers soon.

Yea, I know Doc, there is no doubt about how you and Tony felt about each other. Lots of jesting and joking, (and a little chest beating about the thread count) but all in fun between good buddies..

One of the really nice things about this place is the respect, friendship and generally overall lack of strife like takes place other places.

Don't beat yourself up Doc. Part of the camaraderie was (is) hooking barbs into each other. If we <span style="font-style: italic">just</span> talked cars, this place wouldn't be the same.

It's all automated anyway. Eventually you will pass Tony, but I'm sure he'll be smiling when you do!

I am very shocked and saddened to learn of this. I never had the opportunity to speak to Tony or meet him in person, but I always appreciated his willingness to help and watching his midget progress.

God bless, Tony - you and your family are in my prayers.

May this be somehow positive, he'd want it no other way.

This is the first time I have cried in two years...he was always so helpful, he sent me a new braking system for my Midget, and never got back to me with prices...I can't even...no no no no God no, this isn't right...I can't even begin to organize my thoughts...I hope Jerri is okay...I never got to get back in touch with him on the phone, never got to visit his home...I can't breathe right now...when it happens enough times, you begin to think, begin to hope...maybe it won't happen anymore. And you let your guard down. But who even thinks about this sort of thing? And it hurts even more being Tony...Tony was a good friend and a great human being. I hope I grow up to be half the man Tony was, and I know all of us want to be this loved and cherished.
 
When I read Basil's email today, it felt like someone kicked me in the stomach ... twelve hours later it doesn't feel any different. I am still stunned.

I feel like I am a poorer man today, as I never met or even talked to Tony, but I also feel I am a richer man for having known him through this forum.

To the entire Barnhill Family - my deepest and most heartfelt condolences.

To Mrs. Barnhill - my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

To Grandson Will - come visit BCF when you get a little older. There's a whole bunch of people here who can tell you about your Grandpa.

Look at the "Funeral Arrangements" thread on this forum...Tony's son-in-law posted an update.
 
From South Africa:
As much as it was a bit far to travel to ever meet Tony, I always enjoyed his posts and followed much of his advice, albeit for a Mini.

So here I will raise a glass in celebration of a life well spent and much loved. And also shed a tear for the early loss and grief of those left behind. My condolences to the Barnhill family and to others who were also dear to him.
