Tony Barnhill - Discussion Thread

I was working on this 67 MGB rag top in my shop and while pondering, I bet Tony would appriciate this car when finished. I had been thinking of posting a thread/video when the car was finished titled " a car even MR Barnhill could appreciate" knowing how much he loved the MGB and being a body guy also. Then to read a day or two ago of his passing , how sad!
We never know how much time we have in this life, and we will never fully know how we impact others around us. My prayers go out towards his family and friends.







The life after this one will make this life look like a dirty old bus stop.

I don't know if anybody has the picture, but I always think of that picture of Tony inside the engine compartment of the 63 Midget he brought to the meetup in June 2008. I was anxious to see that finished car back in December when I passed within a couple miles of his house but he had an appointment at the VA and could not miss it. I told him next time I get down that way on business we would meet then. What a shock.

The very image that comes to my mind along with those happy faces visiting Dale in PR! Here it is two days later and he has been in my mind constantly!
 
Though I never purchased car parts from Tony, he offered me advice several times. He will be missed by all of us in the British car hobby. My heart goes out to his family.
 
Great Guy, Great Loss, saw his post about the (SAINTS), come back online 2 days later and read the news, still disbelief but am very moved by all of these posts. A Great Man Indeed May God Bless Tony and Jerri and family,

I've thought several times about Ssnake over the past couple of days! I have loved watching with awe his creation come to life. Isn't it weird the things that go through your mind......

I know many, many of you have been fortunate to have had personal, professional, and great relationships with Tony. But in the year or so that I've been frequenting BCF I've not been aware of any shared more openly and frequently than that between Tony and Doc! I have only shared a handful of PM's, and two or three photos with Tony, but with following his advice and comments daily I feel as if I have lost a good friend. I can only imagine how Doc is feeling........ It must be like loosing a brother. Tony's passing touches all of us dearly. I suspect Doc's feelings run a bit deeper, kindred souls they be.

I often secretly wondered whether Tony had a pair fo chili pepper shorts! (The uninitiated are going ... huh?)

Don't know about that, but I was tempted to put some ground habanero pepper in his shorts in Honduras! :devilgrin:
 
Just very, very saddened. What a great guy. You really believe that somehow some people will live forever. Don't know what to say or do, but I will go out and pat my car in his honor.

Tony, you will be missed.

Terrible, terrible news - Tony was a great gentlemen and very giving in his advice and encouragement.
 
I am here so infrequently lately and I feel like I could cry. This is such terrible news. I am shocked and saddened at this and am awakened to the fact that we must all live our lives to the fullest. Tony was a huge help to me and so many others. I don't knwo what to say other than the world has lost another good soul. May he rest in peace and find happiness where he now lives. Bless you, Tony for all of your good deeds and for touching so many lives. We will miss you dearly!!!!!!

He truly loved helping others on this forum and was such a kind-hearted man. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
 
Haven't stopped thinking about it since I read the news and for some reason it's a life changer for me. For my local club's newsletter, I as chairman had to write my monthly article just now and had to mention something in regards to this tragic loss. After my failed attempt at a Midget restoration, I picked up my then abandoned '67 GT. Tony was integral in boosting my confidence, saving my passion in the hobby and helped to resurrect it though the BCF, personal emails and parts orders. My thoughts and prayers have been going out to his family and a speedy recovery to Jerri.

This is truly saddening to hear. Like many others on this forum, I benefited from Tony's advice and experiences, and I know he will be sorely missed. I wish the best for his wife and other family members.
 
What a loss! I only knew Tony through this board but he came across as a wonderful gentleman who was generous with his knowledge.
 
I have been out of the states since Christmas and just heard about Tony through an email. It is just a terrible thing to happen to him and to his family. I pray for his wife's recovery and for their family.
He was a bright light in the forum each time I signed on. It was always a pleasure to discuss car issues and to just shoot the breeze with him.
I can't tell you what a loss it is to the car forum and to what I expected on a daily basis.
I will truly miss the Great Pumpkin.........
