Tonneu cover over roll bar.

When I rebuild my Midget, I plan on installing a roll bar, but I would like to know if there are any available tonneau covers to fit over the roll bar, or am I up a creek, and will have to make one from scratch. I'd like to know if it would be worth my while, or should I just leave that (attaching)hardware off the car to save a few bucks.

Personally, I like the looks of a rollbar in my LBC. I haven't heard of a tonneau cover that will fit over the rollbar though. I haven't checked yet, but I'm sure an upholstery shop could take an original tonneau and modify it to fit around the roll bar.

Adam70,
It is possible to modify a standard tonneau cover for a roll bar. I did it to my tonneau using velcro and some small pieces of vinyl to make little flaps which covered the slits I made for the rollbar. I have a short tonneau on my Bugeye and cut slits from the first lift-a-dot to and around the rollbar upright. On each side of the slit I sewed on the little flaps. To the flaps I sewed on the velcro. where i had to cut the circle to go around the rollbar upright I cut the circle in a star pattern, folded the star cuts under and then sewed the edge for a finished look. No one makes a tonneau cover for a rollbar as each installation/rollbar would be different. Either modify an original tonneau or have one custom made.

When #11 was a street car, I did something similar to Biff. You will not be able to find a cover that is already set up for the roll bar, but an auto upolstry shop (or a place that does boat covers) could probably do the job reasonably. Don't let it discourage you from putting in a roll bar....that's a good idea!

thanks for the tip, gents. I also saw the thing over on the MGB section, about those loose covers that go over the windshield and those look like a viable option as well. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there. It just doesn't hurt to get a good solid ground plan going
thanks again.

I have a roll bar on my 59 Sprite. I too just cut a slice just behind the rear of the doors and cut two cirles out to accomodate the roll bar tubes. Nuthin fancy but it does the job!
