Not happy. just resigned to it. As nasty as these storms can be we don't have any surprises like earthquakes, tornadoes, floods, or mudslides. Our storms take a week to get here and you can shovel it. The hot tub sits idle all summer, but this time of year we crank it up to 104, and count the stars and watch as orion's belt crosses the skyline. That having been said we spend the deepest part of the winter down at Ft. Myers Beach, we're resigned...not stupid.

6deg here in Maine this morning. The wood furnace was crankin' all night trying to keep up. Our forecast is for 12-18" more snow but we were lucky that the last storm fizzled out after just 3 inches. (sorry Paul - you got hit hard that time!)

But there are other benefits of living in the snow zone. This is my snow removal machine (mt wife was cleaning it off for me!). It's 23HP diesel 4WD will throw snow 80 feet with ease as I ride inside (but not heated, yet.) It makes the job of snow removal a little less painfull. For summers, I have a belly mower, front-end loader and rear backhoe.

Don.....6 degrees in Seattle is pretty rare, isn't it? But 52 degrees IN the house is COLD! Time to toss another log on the fire.

Bob-Been a few years since I had seen those kind of numbers. The inside temp was shown because I had just missed the bottoming out temp so I had to put it on memory setting to show the lowest temp. Don't remember the low inside temp. Must have been a recent night temp while I'm toasty in the bed with my office fireplace set to 60*.
Just dawned on me the thermo is in a garden window so the inside temp usually shows a little low.

Great news!! It has now turned to sleet and freezing rain on top of the snow that fell today.

Just perfect for shoveling later on.

Shoveling? A TR6 that wants for nothing........has every cool thing you could put on/in it.........and its owner has to shovel? That's why God invented snow blowers and guys with plows.

Now having said that.......I've had 2 snow blowers and they were both given to me :yesnod: One by my Dad when he got too old to use it and the current one by my father in law for the same reason. The Ariens I'm using now is 40 years old and just keeps on ticking.

Freezing rain here and 27 degrees and dropping.

Bob,

I have a plow guy for the driveway and big stuff, but he won't do the patio and behind the house. And come to think of it, neither am I.

As my lazy uncle Ralph used to say about leaves and snow, "God put um' there and he'll take um' away." That man never made a move or lifted a finger that he didn't need to. Lived to the ripe old age of 85 too. And did NOT die from a heart attack or high blood pressure.

Salem got 8 inches of snow and a half inch of ice on top. Right now it's 28 degrees and raining. They are predicting another half inch of ice and then more snow tonight. My daughter came home from college in Seattle on the train. It took 14 hours from Centralia to Salem. Right after she left Portland all trains were canceled. The last time I saw this much snow in Salem was 1972 but we didn't get ice then.

Hmm. Here in PA we have had very little snow or ice. I was dissappointed as I like to take the Hummer out and drive in the snow. In actuality I bet there was only really 5 days that I could not have driven my 8 so far. A few cool to cold days but not much from the sky. You guys can keep the ice!

Cool!!

Just imagine if I still lived in Maryland and had snow tires
and 600# of tools and spare parts in Crypty? I'd be the only TR6 on the Beltway.

It's a fun machine. We have 6 acres around the house and a 12 acre woodlot up the road. I only clear snow on our drive and the neighbor's, only takes an hour or so and I stay a little warmer in the cab but the best thing is that the snow doesn't blow back on me.
