Today's Project-Harley Muffler

It all depends on whether or not the baffles / screen are still in place or not. The bulley shaped muffler is definitely more sporty and has a great tone. I tried several different Harley Muffler types and some made Bugsy sound like a rice rocket with a realy, really obnoxious loud fart sound. The bullet shape as Steve got, I have the same type with a straight through pipe, no baffle to plug. A couple of adapters were all that was needed to connect to the stock pipe. And a hanger from the stock muffler lount and it was done. I did tack weld hte adapters together as U bolt did not get them tight enough and htey kept coming loose. No problems since a coule of quick tack welds. No welds, $20 at local muffler shop or donuts.

Ben, it sounded very mellow compared to the stock one I had until I drilled out the baffle. Now it doesn't sound much better. I was afraid it had too much back pressure with the baffle, but I'm not sure. They are cheap and plentiful, so you might want to experiment some.
