Today on the Blue Ridge Mountains

Amen to that, I miss his posts and internet friendship

Ed,

Looks great. If you ever point the nose further to the north, we can rendezvous in NOVA.

Looks like you had a great drive.

One of my favorite pictures: John Herrera (Twosheds) waiting for his TR ignition to dry out. Parked in the rain, somewhere on the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway back in 1993.

John (RIP) would have loved riding with me last Saturday! Here we are approaching mile-high bridge (NC). I'm at the wheel of the Grey Lady!

Frank,

Great photos! Wish I had been there. It's much more fun to drive along in such a convoy than solo.

Paul,

That sounds like a plan. I normally don't drive any further north than Waynesboro, but am thinking of doing the Skyline Drive sometime this summer.

The only time I was on the Parkway in my TR4A was back in 1991. I had made a date with my future wife to take a drive on that road, since she lived near Bluefield, WV, only about an hour from the parkway. The only problem was, my car had a piston with a hole in it. So I spent the entire day Saturday before our Sunday date, replacing the pistons, liners and bearings. This I did with the engine in the car and on jackstands in the garage! I got it buttoned up about 2AM, then got up and left S.Charleston for Bluefield (about 2hrs away) at 8AM, picked her up and headed for the parkway. We got on the parkway near Galax and cruised south a ways, turned around and came back, stopping in Hillsville at the DQ for a hotdog. The car ran great!

Amazing the things we did when we were young and in love, huh?

Dan B.

ps...the other thing I remember from that day was stopping at an overlook and looking down as I stepped out of the car only to see a bunch of used condoms.

I hope you stopped by Luray Caverns--they have a neat auto museum attached. I usually skip the caverns and go to the museum! One ticket for both-- Jim

Frank,

It looks like your pictures have been moved or deleted?

Oh, no.... Just my luck!

I would have loved to have seen the TRA 2012 National! Is this held at Little Switzerland, NC, each year at this time? Is there a website? Looking forward to the photos.

Ed: The TRA National is held in a different place each year. Next year it's in Kentucky and in 2014 it's in Maine.

TRA website

Regards,

Frank
