Must remember not to whistle at 4am if I'm near you in the future. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Not only bullets, but Guns too. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Re: use aTo Kill A Mockingbird

Good thinking Stuart!!!

Bullets AND guns. At Walmart. Every day low prices, no waiting in Lane 8? Why do I find that disturbing?

Re: use aTo Kill A Mockingbird

Janel - is that a regular .22 or is it a magnum...I have the same single shot Ruger pistol in the bedroom for Jerri but it has a magnum cylinder in it - it'll shoot flames 6" & stop a grown man dead in his tracks regardless of where she aims!

Me, I prefer my M1911 Colt 45!!

But you don't want to use a pistol on a bird! Especially not at night!

As I recall, that'll stop a horse at a full gate dead in it's tracks. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Re: use aTo Kill A Mockingbird

Janel, you need an Illinois State Police FOID card to buy bullets from anywhere.

Re: use aTo Kill A Mockingbird

Tony was right- BB gun or pellet gun is the way to go. I killed a bird or two with my trusty Red Ryder many moons ago- and that is a relatively low powered BB gun. My Crossman 1377 pellet pistol with 7 pumps would scatter the feathers and even though it's a pistol, I could easily hit a bird sized target at 50 feet...provided i could see it clearly.

Re: use aTo Kill A Mockingbird

's why I posted that link to th' Daisy, above.

*POOF!*

...annoyance dissolved.

Re: use aTo Kill A Mockingbird

Okay, not sure if it's a magnum or not? How do I tell?
I thought Colt 45 was beer?
Barry>>> That makes me feel a little better- if that's a firearm owner's id foid. Was a bit concerned about someone just strolling through the aisles saying 'wouldya looky here at this?'

Re: use aTo Kill A Mockingbird

Janel -- in Utah, at least, I was able a few years ago to buy a 12 gauge Mossberg shotgun and ammo at the local WalMart. They had it on sale. No kidding. Probably the only thing I've ever bought at WalMart that still works.

We are of a kind, Tony.

On event of birth, issue a weapon, a computer, a copy of the Constitution... and a contract to train th' "newbie" from age six to use each well.

...my bad... but I was 'rised' well. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Re: use aTo Kill A Mockingbird

Janel,
If all you wan tis peace and for that little sucker to go away...Run down to the dollar store and buy a couple of cheap rubber snakes. (the big black ones are best) pick up a couple of those glow in the dark stickers. Find the branch, window sill, or bush he's hanging in. Place th elittle glow iin the dark stickers over hte eyes, so they glow in the dark. Wrap the snke around the limb or branch. YOu may need to put a couple of them out. If its on your window sill or house, take a small stick of wood with two or three nails in it and thread the snake around it. set it on your window sill.
It should scare off any bird who want to hang out there.

I have wrapped them around the trunks of my holly bushes cause the stupid mockingbirds keep nesting there and dive bombing us when we work in the garage. They didn't nest ther this year.
They are cheap rubber snakes with fakes glow in the dark eyes, but they seem to work.

Re: use aTo Kill A Mockingbird

((leave it to a woman to figure this out for me!!))
THANK YOU! Sounds simple enough! (will that work on keeping the rabbits out of my garden too?)

YOU TWO BOYS keep the politics OUTTA my thread. Because ya'll KNOW how I am...

((tsk tsk tsk))

I say shoot it.

I agree its more fun, but remember these guys are territorial and looking for the best nesting spots. This bird has a great place since he's back for year 2. Shooting him only opens up new territory and invites someone else to move in (kinda like a rent controlled apt. in NYC) The snakes should make the territory undesirable and allow Janel some much needed peace!

Re: use aTo Kill A Mockingbird

Not year 2. More like year 4 or 5.

I say 'shoot it' too. I just can't find my bullet any more. Really sucks too in case I ever REALLY need a bullet.
