Ya know, it's not the bird. Entirely. If he were devocalized, we could live quite happily, forever in peaceful coexistence.

That racket at O'dark:30 is just unacceptable. Tomorrow I get up at 5am for the endurance rally. A 24 hour drive. That hour of sleep from 4am-5am is crucial. I'm sleeping in the basement tonight.

This is the right way to go, they work on crows too, (from what I've heard...) Don't get a really cheap one ($12+/-), they're not acurate enough, but, under $50 will work.

But Janel, aren't you that one that usually sighs and leaves any discussions about the benefit of firearms???

That would be me.

I also own a Ruger Super 6 (it was my dad's) and am accurate with it.

I told you. My soul's conflicted. I could use the Ruger if I had to. And if I had time to go down to the basement, into the laundry room and find the bullets.

How about a live trap???

Send the bird to Lawguy, or Mickey to enjoy, but torment it while it's in the cage. Keep it up late at night, blast psychedelic music at it at odd hours, water-board it, something to take the rage off your bent-on-retribution heart...the bird lives, you got your revenge, your inner pacifist is happy!

The mockingbird is omnivorous. About half its diet consists of arthropods, including beetles, ants, bees, wasps, and grasshoppers, but it will also eat earthworms and small lizards. These aggressive feeders can often be observed chasing down a grasshopper on a lawn, running, hopping and lunging at the prey, or flying just above the ground maneuvering behind a large wasp. They are also fond of zebra butterflies (Heliconius charitonius), which are commonly available in southern Florida. In the fall or whenever available at a feeder, the mockingbird enjoys eating fruits, both wild and cultivated.

Do bullets go bad? I've had it since my dad died in 1973...

I'm using 1944 8mm, it's as loud, smelly and explosive as the day it was packed.
It has been in a lead box for 60 years though, but yes, bullets can degrade if not stored correctly.

It's in a baby food jar in the basement. One bullet. Figured one was all I would ever possibly need if I was forced to use the gun.
