Tires - Yokohamas AS430

Sat, called Top Line in Madison, AL. at 2:15pm. Guy said, get there before 3pm and he would put Kumho tires on. Drove MG and wife followed, 23 miles. Got there at 2:55. Manager said "too late" we are closing. Irratated since I was driving on dry rot, went down the road to NTB and got Yokohamas AS430's. Anyone know about these tires? I don't feel very impressed yet.

It depends on what you're going to do with them.

The 430 is sort of an all-season tire that gives long tread life and is a bit less sticky.
If you're doing a lot of driving in that car, especially in bad weather, they will be fine.

When I bought new tires for my Miata, I looked at those tires...for about 5 seconds.
And moved on to Yokohama ES-100s, which is a high performance summer tire with a shorter thread life but "stickier". Not so good in bad weather, but I don't care.
I don't drive the Miata much in the winter and anyway, I have dedicated all-season tires and wheels for it.

I just bought new tires for my MGB too. Sumitomo HTR 200s. I would have bought the Yoko ES-100s, but the Sumis are cheaper ($49 each). They're also heavier and a little harder, both slight negatives in terms of performance. I won't drive the B that much anyway. The Sumitomos are also summer tires with shorter thread life and not-so-great in bad weather.

On crummy days, I drive my minivan.
