tire air pressure

I installed 185/70/14 radial tires on my 1971 MGB. What is the best tire pressures to use in town and on the highway ??

What did the tire shop reccommend?? I would run 32 but, go by manufacturers recommendations!!

I was talking to a german fellow who used to work in the tire industry and he told me that in North America we tend to run our tires at too low a pressure. He said that the whole firestone/ Ford Explorer episode a couple of years ago might not have happened if we ran our tires at the maximum pressure.After talking to him I upped the pressure in my daily driver and my mgb.I run them both at about 35 lbs.If it works on the Autobahn it will work on our highways!

They may wear a little in the center, but is that really a problem?? It will also ride a little rougher!! Smart move!!

I was running the MG manual recomended pressures of front 21 psi and rear 24 psi. The car felt like the tires were too soft. I have changed to front 29 psi and rear 32 psi. The car rides a little rougher, but handles much better in the corners. Seems that front pressure needs to be a bit lower to get the feel right in the corners. My gas milage has improved also..

I run my 73 MGB with 30 lbs. all around and it seems to be just right.
