Hi All, For some reason, I can only see the TDC pointer when timing. Possibly the wrong crank shaft pulley? I should be able to see all five points, TDC, 5, 10, 15, and 20; right? Thanks, Mike
The pointer could have been bent at some point in the thirty-five odd years of history. You ~may~ find taking time to use a screwdriver as a leverage tool and some scrubbing around on your back to do the task worthwhile. That said, I'd be inclined to "memorize" the distance 8 degrees is from the visible TDC mark and "wing it."
Most of my MGB's got a second pointer installed on TOP of the pulley, via a timing cover bolt and a distinct groove in the pulley. Pointer made from a wire coat hanger and "indexed" with dial indicator and degree wheel.
All to eliminate the flopping around like a caught carp. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Excuse me if I am misunderstanding, but there should only be one mark ON the pulley and the guage marks are on the timing guage attached to the engine...no??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
