On an engine or transmission or something, the "just rebuilt" thing is often times bogus. [/quote]
Even Autozone often has a liberal definition of "rebuilt". I once went shopping for a rebuilt distributor with them. The first one they brought out had NO advance springs. The second was missing the entire shaft bushing. The third...the shaft moved up and down 1/4". Funniest part...? This was a lifetime guaranteed distributor!?!
Personally, I don't trust anything someone else rebuilt. But thats just me. Even a great mechanic has to ration his time to make money, whereas I'm willing to spend three days pressing a single bearing to get the clearance perfect. I don't have to make money from my work, it's all love of the hobby...!
