Tie Rod Removal Tool

I've never been good with getting tie rods separated with a pickle fork, and this time was no exception. No matter how I approached with fork, hammer, spoon, shovel it wasn't going to budge. I searched around for a tie rod puller and they're impossible to put your hands on here locally. I could order one and wait a couple of days, or buy a set which was close to $100.

Then I came across a 2 & 3 jaw 2 ton puller for $34. There's probably cheaper ones around, but I wasn't going to spend any more gas looking for a bargain. I've already damaged my hand from hammering, and decided to use the air ratchet. Both tie rod ends came off with no problem. You can use a ratchet or a wrench, I just had the air ratchet close at hand and made the job a lot easier.

For future reference Honda/Acura make a tie rod end tool, not that expensive, that also fits a lot of LBC balljoints. Can be ordered from any Honda parts counter. Being as you are in Atlanta and Honda does have a warehouse there, I would expect the dealer could get it for you the next day. Similar tool is also sold via Snap-On, Matco, Mac tools trucks.

It takes two hammers, one held behind the stearing arm and the other to swat it smartly on the front. See the University moters U tube.

Jack-When I beat the crap out of my hand I came back in and watched John Twist's video. I went back out and tried his approach, but it still wouldn't budge. I even shot PB Blaster on them a few times and let them sit, but no go.

When all else fails you need to remove the stearing rod, two bolts, unscrew the end of the ball joint, support all properly and get your big hammer out. If you screw up a stearing rod I have an extra.
