Does anybody know if the BE throttle lever is different from the one used on later Spridgets?
I'm guessing the end that connects and pulls on the cable might be shorter than on the later cars...
I know they used more return springs on the carbs...
I assume that you are referring to the piece that your foot pushes on-
There are two versions, 1958 thru 1967 and 1968 and up
your's uses the earlier version

The part I'm talking about is item #1 in the drawing I copied from the service parts list diagram. My question is about the length, "L" on the lever. Was it shorter on BE's and longer on the later cars? I know the number of return springs was increased from 1 to 3 on the later cars. My problem is that the throttle cable is binding badly because the lever isn't pulling the cable straight through the hole on the tub where it passes through the sheetmetal panel and connects to the lever.
When you say that the cable is binding I wonder if you actually have a (very common) case of the bushings on your assembly binding from being dry/sticky.
It is a very simple job to unscrew the two attach bolts and remove/reinstall the entire part for lubrication-
The carbs went from one spring to three because they went from H1 to HS1 carbs

I spent most of Saturday afternoon working on this problem. Before getting started, I also picked up 2 extra levers at my friend's shop. Some levers I discovered had a difference in the distance between the mounting hinge/anchors, but the L-distance was always the same.
In the end, I clipped off the capped end of one of my throttle cable housings (the end that passes through the bulkhead) and installed a new cable wire. The throttle mechanism is now as smooth as butter and I no longer look like some novice trying to learn how to drive his first manual transmission.
Spridgets are not cars. They are riddles on wheels!
More like a continual problem solving exercise. Some folks do crossword puzzles to keep their brain sharp while others like me wake in the middle of the night wake up with "now how the h_ll am I going to fix that...!" moments.
