Hello all,
I just wanted to thank all the LBC'ers on this forum for the knowledge that you impart to others in our hobby. I have not posted very often during my years here, but have read this forum everyday. The answers to all of my questions have been found through searching other peoples problems. I finished the complete restoration of my 78 B this past summer and have enjoyed trouble free(knock on wood)cruising the last 4 months. When I bought my car the clutch was stuck as it had sat in a garage for the last 14 years, and I was not able to drive it till near the end of its restoration as it was unsafe. I did all the work myself except the bodywork and paint and my back still hurts from standing at the bead blast cabinet. I have posted a link to some before, during and after pictures of my B so those of you doing a restoration can see that there is light at the end of the tunnel. My car as all my cars are is not 100% origional because I believe in improvements, whether performance, safty or for just for looks. Thanks again for all the knowledge you impart to others in a friendly helpfull way, and yes the B shares garage space with a Triumph. The pictures are not in order, but please check them out. Thanks again. 78 MGB restoration picts

Hey Paul,

Really nice work! Love the front end and whole color package. Works well with the light interior & top.

The wood dash kit really finishes it off right.

Cheers!
Bret

Hi Paul,
You have a very nice car which you can be justly proud of. I have no doubt that it was a tremendous amount of work, but the results are worth it all.

Thanks for all the positive replies,
Dennis, fatmat is a sound and heat insulation that I covered the entire interior with, looks like shiney silver in the pictures. I lay'ed it 3 layers deep on the floors and transmission tunnel after sanding and painting them with rust bullet, the rest of the car only needed 1 layer. It makes a termindious difference, no more heat radiating around your feet and almost no road noise from the inside of the car. It is the best $100.00 I have ever spent on e-bay. I also used their liquid sound deadner inside of the door cavaties which brushes on, now the doors do not sound hollow when you shut them and the door speakers sound better as well as stopping some rattles. Fatmat is like dynamat only less expensive.100 sq. feet will do the entire car with a little left over, search for fatmat on e-bay.

Great job & good for you!!!!Randi /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

You must be very proud, I especially like the early grille, and wonder why they ever changed, its a distinctive element of the overall design of the car, a recognition point when its coming towards you.
Simon.

I too love the combination of the grille and the body-colored bumpers. Makes it much more distinctive looking than a rubber-bumper B, but much more contemporary than a chrome-bumper B. Are those after-market fiberglass or plastic bumpers or did you design them yourself (probably showing my ignorance as I have never owned a B)? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Steve,
The Bumper/Spoiler in the front is a aftermarket piece from Team Liebra . It is very well made, thick fiberglass that fit perfectly and only needed minimal prep work before painting. Some cutting and grinding was required to remove the old rubber bumper mounting plate part of the front frame rail. The rear bumper is a stock rubber bumper painted body color, a rear chrome conversion is the project for this spring.

I really like the chrome bumper setup you have chosen. This reminds me of the MG RV8 but much better. The blue color also looks very similar to the blue used on Austin Healeys. Good choice.
